Gyroflow DaVinci Resolve 20

How to Install the Gyroflow Plugin in DaVinci Resolve 20 (Mac & Windows)

If you’ve been stabilizing your footage using the standalone Gyroflow app, you know how powerful gyro-based stabilization can be. But did you know you can now use Gyroflow directly inside DaVinci Resolve — without the need to export and re-import your clips?

In this guide, I’ll show you how to install the Gyroflow OFX plugin for DaVinci Resolve 20 on both Mac and Windows, and how to use it to stabilize your footage directly in your editing workflow.

What is Gyroflow?

Gyroflow is an open-source stabilization software that uses gyro sensor data to achieve ultra-smooth footage — perfect for FPV drones, action cameras, or anything handheld.

While it works great as a standalone app, integrating it as a plugin in DaVinci Resolve saves a lot of time and keeps your workflow clean.

Installation on macOS

To install the Gyroflow plugin on macOS, start by heading to the official Gyroflow website and downloading the latest version for Mac. Once the download is complete, open the .dmg file. Inside, you’ll find a file named Gyroflow.ofx.bundle. Copy this file using the shortcut CMD + C.

Next, open Finder and navigate to your system drive — typically labeled as "Macintosh HD." From there, go into the Library folder, then into OFX, and finally into Plugins. If the OFX or Plugins folders don’t exist yet, you’ll need to create them manually. Once you're in the correct location, paste the Gyroflow.ofx.bundle file into the Plugins folder. That’s it! After completing this step, simply restart DaVinci Resolve, and the plugin should be ready to use.

Installation on Windows

For Windows users, the process is very similar. Begin by downloading the Windows version of the Gyroflow plugin from the official website. After the ZIP file has been downloaded, extract it. Inside the extracted folder, you’ll find a folder named Gyroflow.ofx.bundle. Copy that entire folder.

Now open your C: drive and navigate to the following location: Program Files, then into Common Files, then OFX, and finally into the Plugins folder. If the Plugins folder doesn't exist yet, you’ll need to create it manually. Once you're in the correct path — C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins — paste the Gyroflow.ofx.bundle folder there. Once that’s done, you can open DaVinci Resolve, and the plugin will be ready to use.

How to use the plugin

Now let’s take a look at how to actually use the plugin inside DaVinci Resolve. Start by dropping a video clip that contains gyro metadata — for example, an FPV drone clip — into the timeline. Open the Effects Library and search for “Gyroflow.” Drag the Gyroflow OFX Plugin directly onto your clip. At first, the footage won’t change — it will still look shaky. But once you head to the Inspector panel and click “Load for current file,” the stabilization will be applied instantly, and lens correction will be automatically loaded as well.

The Inspector also gives you full control over all the main stabilization parameters. The settings available here are nearly identical to those found in the standalone Gyroflow app, so you can adjust smoothness, motion scale, lens profiles, and more — all without leaving DaVinci Resolve.

Troubleshooting

If for some reason the plugin doesn’t appear in DaVinci Resolve, there are a few common troubleshooting steps you can take. First, try changing the OFX search method from “Current folder” to “All folders.” Then go into DaVinci Resolve’s preferences, click on the “Video Plugins” section, and check whether the Gyroflow plugin is listed and activated. If it’s missing, there’s a good chance the file path was entered incorrectly, so make sure you’ve followed the installation steps precisely. Double-check the folder names, and try again if necessary.
